About the currency

The West African CFA franc (XOF) is the shared currency of eight states: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo. It is issued by the Central Bank of West African States and hard pegged to the euro, with the French treasury behind the arrangement.
