The Central African CFA franc (XAF) is the shared currency of six states: Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Chad. It is issued by the Bank of Central African States and hard pegged to the euro, with the French treasury standing behind the arrangement. XAF does not convert directly into XOF despite the identical euro parity.
