The Mauritanian ouguiya (MRU) is issued by the Central Bank of Mauritania and divides into five khoums. The current unit arrived in 2018 through a redenomination in which one new ouguiya replaced ten old ones. The rate is managed, supported by iron ore mining and fisheries.
