The Uzbek som (UZS) is issued by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan. For a long time the som had many exchange restrictions: official and market rates differed substantially. In 2017 Uzbekistan carried out a liberalization of the currency market - restrictions on currency exchange for citizens were lifted, and after the 2017 currency liberalization residents' access to buying and selling foreign currency was substantially expanded. The rate is formed on the currency market; the Central Bank of Uzbekistan's measures and economic conditions influence the dynamics. Uzbekistan is actively developing trade and investment ties with Russia, China, South Korea, and Turkey, creating multi-directional currency demand.

Factors affecting the EUR/UZS rate
